The Department of Law, University of Jaffna, in collaboration with the Law Alumni Association of the University of Jaffna, successfully hosted a special address by the Attorney General of Sri Lanka on 09 June 2026 at the Kailasapathy Auditorium, University of Jaffna.
The lecture, titled “Attorney General: The Prosecutorial Discretion,” provided participants with valuable insights into the powers, responsibilities, and decision-making processes of the Attorney General in the administration of criminal justice. The session highlighted the significance of prosecutorial discretion in ensuring fairness, accountability, and the rule of law, which was followed by a Q&A session.
