This work contributes significantly to the evolving discourse on justice and legal systems in the modern era.)

HUMAN RIGHTS DEBATE COMPETITION 2024, ORGANISED BY THE CAPITAL MAHARAJAH GROUP.

 The team representing the University of Jaffna, emerged as the first runners-up in the Human Rights Debate Competition 2024, organised by the Capital Maharajah Group.

Book Donating Human Rights Publication in collaboration from the Law Students’ Society with Law and Society Trust. With the guidance of the president and Secretary of LSS, these executive members of LSS sub-committees were appointed to distribute the books to the Department.

யாழ் නීதி උදානය 2025  YARL NITHI UDANAYA 2025

We, the Law Students’ Society, are honoured to announce that  யாழ் නීதி උදානය 2025 was conducted successfully, joyfully, and memorably on the 25th of May, marking yet another milestone in the vibrant history of our department.

This grand event was not merely a celebration, but a powerful demonstration of unity, cultural richness, and the collective spirit of our law family. It served as a meaningful reminder of how diversity and tradition come together to shape the strength and identity of our community.

Event Highlights

Formal Opening:
Welcoming our esteemed guests with traditional oil lamp lighting, followed by a heartfelt welcome speech by Ms. Thenuka Christy, which set the tone for a day of unity, pride, and celebration.

Auspicious Village Activities:
Traditional ceremonies were carried out at the symbolic “village houses,” anchoring the event in the cultural roots of our land.

Cultural Performances:
Brilliant dance performances from the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Sinhala and Tamil batches brought colour, rhythm, and spirit, showing the beautiful fusion of language, tradition, and talent.

Fun-Filled Traditional Games & Competitions:
Students joyfully competed in games like breaking pots, counting seeds, eyeing the elephant, lime-on-the-spoon, running on three legs, balloon dance, honey bee game, feeding the blind, catching balloons, musical hats, holding biscuits on the face, and more.
These activities not only entertained but strengthened friendship and brotherhood across batches.

Special Competitions:
The much-anticipated யாழ் நீதி Prince & Princess final judging and clown costumes parade brought a festive and colourful energy that delighted both participants and the audience.

Recognition and Awards:
A formal prize-giving ceremony honoured outstanding participants, followed by a thoughtful vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Gallage Umayanga, President of the LSS.

Closing Reflections

யாழ் නීதி උදානය 2025  stands as a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together as one legal family  united through diversity, bound by tradition, and driven by shared dreams.
