At the end of 2025, many people in Sri Lanka were affected by the “Dithva” cyclone, floods, and landslides, causing great difficulties for families and schoolchildren in several areas. To support the children affected by this disaster, our Public Relations Committee organized the “Hetata Akuru” programme with the aim of donating school stationery items.
As part of the programme, our committee set up two stalls near the front gate and back gate of the university to collect donations on the 16th and 17th of December. We invited people to donate books and other stationery items, and with the generous support of donors and well-wishers, we were able to collect a large amount of stationery supplies.
On the 25th of December we visited the affected school and distributed the donated items among the students who had been affected by the cyclone, floods, and landslides. The program was a meaningful effort to support the children and encourage their education during a difficult time.
