NEETHAM LAW REVIEW – VOL IX

Launch of Neetham Law Review – Volume IX

The Department of Law, University of Jaffna, proudly announces the launch of Neetham Law Review in July 2025 with the release of its ninth volume. As one of the department’s integral annual events, the launch of Neetham highlights our commitment to advancing legal scholarship and fostering critical dialogue within and beyond the University.

Neetham Vol. IX presents a rich and diverse collection of scholarly contributions: 13 expert articles, 2 expert abstracts, 4 dissertation-based articles, 6 student articles, 3 landmark judgments, and 3 landmark Acts. Together, these works engage with the theme “Exploring Contemporary Challenges and Innovations Across Diverse Fields of Law.”

This volume also marks several milestones. It is the first issue under the new title Neetham Law Review, formerly known as Neetham Law Journal. For the first time, the publication reaches across borders by featuring contributions from neighbouring India. It is also the most extensive issue to date, introducing new categories on landmark cases and Acts. Importantly, it represents the University of Jaffna’s first student-produced publication from a technical standpoint.

The launch event was successfully held with the esteemed presence of Justice Kumudini Wickremasinghe, Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, as Chief Guest, and Honourable Ramanathan Kannan, Judge of the Civil Appellate High Court of Jaffna, as Guest of Honour. Several eminent members of the judiciary from the Northern Province, along with distinguished legal professionals and practitioners, also graced the occasion, making it a truly memorable and dignified event.
