20 YEARS IN LEGAL EDUCATION

The Department of Law at the University of Jaffna proudly marked its 20th Anniversary with a grand celebration held on campus. The event, which commenced at 9:00 AM, brought together distinguished legal professionals, academics, alumni, students, and well-wishers in a day filled with reflection, recognition, and inspiration.
The milestone celebration began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, symbolizing wisdom and new beginnings, followed by a vibrant welcome dance performed by students. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Kosalai Mathan, setting the tone for the day’s events.
A highlight of the celebration was the panel discussion moderated by N. Nishanth, State Counsel at the Attorney General’s Department. The panel featured an esteemed lineup of speakers including:

Prof. S. Raguram, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, delivered an address acknowledging the department’s remarkable journey and contribution to legal academia and social justice over the past two decades.
A documentary showcasing the history, achievements, and transformative journey of the Department of Law was then released to wide acclaim.
